At the meeting, Hartner discussed how demand profile is changing rapidly and partners need to respond accordingly to minimize costs to the supply chain. Even during a downturn there are growth opportunities that require quick response. When broad based growth returns, rebuilding capacity effectively will separate winners from losers. Rebuilding involves retraining people on a global scale and not losing industry knowledge.
The presentation focused on encouraging customers to partner with Dover businesses during these tough times. The audience consisted of about 50 EMS presidents predominately of US-based small to mid-sized companies. During the networking portion of the event, Hartner encouraged the EMS companies to visit Dover companies at APEX. He also promoted the company's value-added service, and gave insight for the company's future plans.
Plans include a more integrated supply chain, a focus on leadership imperatives, and a concentration on supply chain partners who provide stability, value-added solutions and flexibility.
