This machine is the third Europlacer machine to be installed onsite at Trends Factory based in Horsham, West Sussex.
Founded in 1980, Trend has undergone rapid and consistent year on year double-digit growth. Trend is one of the world's leading Building Management Systems manufacturers, with a worldwide distribution and support network covering more than 50 countries. Its fully integrated control solutions are able to meet the most complex requirements of modern buildings.
Through close control and monitoring of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other building services, Trend systems are able to minimize energy consumption and maintain consistently comfortable conditions as well as bring other key benefits such as lower plant maintenance costs.
Systems are to be found in virtually every type of nonresidential building from schools, hospitals and leisure centres to office blocks, shops and factories. Suitable for the largest building complexes and multi-site applications, they are still cost-effective in even very small premises.
The Trend package of advanced products, specialist services, and a tried and tested route to market not only provides systems that are fit for purpose but also ensures lowest lifetime costs.
Trend is a BSI registered company, complying with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001: 2000. This quality assurance standard covers the sales, marketing, design, manufacture and support of Building Management Systems.
Honeywell International is a diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials.
Europlacer's IINEO2T is widely configurable, allowing for 24 different machine possibilities, for the single head machine with linear motor gantry including a rotary turret head with 8 or 12 pickup nozzles, one board positioning mechanism, oversized board options, and feeders in front and rear, or front only.
The IINEO2T platform features many improvements to the Europlacer machine range, such as an extremely high feeder count, largest industry board size and increased maximum component height.
The platform uses Europlacer's unique Integrated IntelligenceTM plus proven core, featuring highly robust and flexible turret head, intelligent feeders, 3DPS, and powerful software tools.
Trends Production Engineering Manager Grant Tully explains:
We manufacture in excess of 3000 different SKU's from our factory in Horsham all of which are 'made to order' in a 2-3 day lead-time.
To support this, our SMT equipment is a key part of this lean process. Performing around 140+ batch product changeovers per week it is imperative that our SMT lines have end-to-end setups that are no longer than 5 minutes (SMED).
High feeder count machines, with flexible and interchangeable feeders are the key to this process.
Other factors such as a broad component handling range, high yields, low downtime, component wastage and time to perform preventive maintenance tasks are also important to us.
Europlacer equipment has proven itself to be best suited to our methods of production and with the excellent service and support Europlacer has given us, it is no surprise that we now place over ten times the amount of SMDs than we did 10 years ago.
About Europlacer
Europlacer has been developing machines for electronics assembly since the 1970s and invented the intelligent feeder concept in the 1980s.After acquisition by Blakell Europlacer in 1991, the company moved away from split-axis to the inherently more capable X-Y architecture that underpins the company's machines today.Europlacer's policy has been to ensure wherever possible that technology purchased many years ago, especially feeders, remain compatible with the latest equipment. Europlacer designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of highly flexible SMT placement systems for the global electronics industry.
