APEX 2010: Siemens introduces new SIPLACE SX with Capacity on Demand

Feb 12, 2010

Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems (SEAS) will present its new SIPLACE SX placement platform with real Capacity on Demand at this year’s APEX trade show in Las Vegas (April 6-8, Booth #2011). This totally new concept gives electronics manufacturers the capability to invest either in feeder capacity or placement performance, because the SIPLACE SX is the world's first placement machine with total gantry modularity, a new technology that puts an end to expensive line reconfigurations.

Capacity on demand: SIPLACE SX

Because of its completely new architecture with gantry modularity, the new SIPLACE SX offers electronics manufacturers not only a new standard of flexibility, but never-before-seen investment and equipment options that can change the investment strategies for their SMT production from the ground up.

At APEX 2010, the SIPLACE team will demonstrate how easy its Capacity on Demand concept makes it to configure the matching production line for virtually any manufacturing situation in combination with the best possible asset strategy. Visitors will also see how quickly a SIPLACE SX+ can be converted into a SIPLACE SX1 single-gantry or a SIPLACE SX2 dual-gantry machine by simply adding one or two gantries. In less than 30 minutes, electronics manufacturers can add more performance on the fly.

With its flexibility and its compact design, the SIPLACE SX provides the ideal basis for new, future-oriented production concepts that can be adapted quickly to today’s dynamic customer requirements – without having to move entire line modules around as in traditional production environments.

Rent or buy SMT equipment

The new SIPLACE SX is the only machine that offers true Capacity on Demand. And only real capacity on demand offers the technical prerequisites as well as the financing options that help users get a handle on the increasing risks that result from the extreme order fluctuations in the electronics manufacturing business. Only SIPLACE's Capacity on Demand is designed to make it possible to respond to short-term order peaks as well as gradually rising order volumes easily and with manageable costs. For example, if a rush order promises extra profits, SIPLACE’s "peak demand" model lets electronics manufacturers increase their feeder capacity and performance at little extra cost. And for longer periods, SIPLACE’s "floating demand" model lets them optimize their equipment productivity with the least possible investment. Manufacturers can rent precisely the performance they need when they need it – and simply return it when the order volume returns to normal or even declines.

Interested visitors can experience the new SIPLACE SX with its Real Capacity on Demand and the SILACE MultiStar CPP head live at this year’s APEX in Las Vegas (Booth A3 377).
