SEHO’s Fluxer Control Wins a 2010 NPI Award

KREUZWERTHEIM, GERMANY - SEHO Systems GmbH announces that it has been awarded an NPI Award in the category of Soldering-Wave for its Fluxer Control. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, April 6, 2010 ceremony that took place in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas during APEX 2010.

When soldering, process precision plays a decisive role. This primarily applies to the flux application because it is always critical to verify the flux supply. Enough flux must be supplied to the assembly, achieving sufficient hole-fill to form high-quality solder joints during the subsequent soldering process.

SEHO’s new Fluxer Control not only monitors the function of the fluxer nozzle but also measures the actual fluxing quality, i.e. fine atomized spray or spray jet. The sensors used for this control function are located within an area of the wave soldering system that is not susceptible to stain.

When micro-drop jet fluxers are used for selective wave systems, the fluxer control function measures the actual flux quantity of each drop jetted by the drop jet nozzle during the fluxing process. Integrated air nozzles ensure that the sensors that measure the flux quantity are cleaned after each cycle in order to avoid sensor malfunction.

For selective wave systems, the measured quantity is compared to a reference value learned earlier. If the system detects a deviation, an error message will be initiated. Additionally, system software clearly indicates which part of the PCB has not been fluxed correctly. Thus, the real time fluxer control ensures the highest process reliability and constant process conditions without influencing the cycle time.
