Meridian, ID - Computrol, Inc., a world-class provider of mid- to low-volume, high-mix electronic manufacturing services to OEMs, announces that it has purchased Essemtec’s new Tucano In-line Screen Printer. Due to its flexibility, the Tucano can be adapted for virtually any print task to quickly realize customer specific requirements.

“This was a major win for Essemtec. The major printer companies were already in there for years, but due to the easy-to- use software, great features, accuracy, and competitive pricing of the Tucano, Essemtec was chosen,” said Steve Pollock, Essemtec’s Vice President of Sales.

Computrol’s electronics contract manufacturing expertise allows customers to realize significant improvements in cycle time, asset utilization, reliability, flexibility, and responsiveness. Farid Anani, Computrol’s Manufacturing Engineering Manager, commented, “With the built-in inspection system for both board paste coverage and stencil apertures, we expect to achieve a very robust and repeatable print process, thus enhancing the quality and reliability of the product’s solder joints.”

Utilizing state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and processes, and highly skilled people, Computrol focuses on prototyping and low- to medium-volume, high-mix production of PCB, box build, cable harness, and backplane assemblies. Essemtec’s Tucano will help Computrol in its quest to improve customers’ inventory costs, cycle times and overall level of customer satisfaction.

“The system was selected due to positive testimony from other Essemtec users, user friendly and intuitive operator interface, as well as competitive pricing,” continued Anani.

The Tucano is a robust, economical and extremely reliable in-line-machine for precision stencil printing. The system features a higher printing speed, lower cycle time, additional traceability functionality, larger print area and higher precision than its predecessor, the SP900.The most significant mechanical modification is that ball screw drives were replaced by belt drives, which Essemtec also builds into its SMD pick-and-place machines. In doing so, the printer gained precision and productivity. Repeatability is now 10 µm, printing speed measures 250 mm/s at its maximum and the cycle time is below 15 seconds. Belt drives also require less maintenance, reducing overall operating costs. For more information about Essemtec’s Tucano, visit http://www.essemtec.com.
