IPC/WHMA-A-620 Specialist (CIS) Recertification Training Course

IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification is for individuals responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of cable and wire harness assemblies. This standard, known as Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies, is the foremost standard in the cable and wire harness industry, developed with the support of the Wire Harness Manufacturer's Association. Certification demonstrates a commitment to enhancing product quality and reliability and greatly facilitates certification to ISO and other quality assurance initiatives. The IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) course enhances individual discrimination skills in determining the acceptability of cable and wire harness assemblies based on the IPC/WHMA-A-620 document.  

Ideal candidates include engineers, quality supervisors, inspectors, and manufacturing personnel responsible for quality assurance. To earn certification, participants must reference the IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard to make acceptable/reject decisions, interpret IPC terminology and definitions, and achieve an overall score of 70% or better on IPC examinations.

• Module 2:  Crimp Terminations and Insulation Displacement (IDC) Terminations 
• Module 3:  Soldering Terminals and High Voltage 
• Module 4:  Connectorization, Molding/Potting 
• Module 5:  Splices 
• Module 6:  Marking, Securing, Final Assembly 
• Module 7:  Coax Cables 
• Module 8:  Ultrasonic Welding and Solderless Wire Wrap 

Hands-On

This hands-on training is designed to complement your IPC/WHMA-A-620 training. Participants will learn and practice the techniques necessary to meet the IPC criteria.

• Measure and cut wires and cables
• Strip and tin wires
• Assemble and solder terminals, crimp formed contacts (insulated and non-insulated), crimp stamped/machine contacts
• Assemble BNC connectors to coaxial cable, RJ45 plugs, and ribbon cable
• Bundle wires and cables using tie wraps, spot ties and continuous lacing
• Documentation and tutorials will be provided
