Curiously... Shelf-life of the plating alternatives has been mentioned several times as a potential issue in these discussions. Tell me is there a market for a simple plastic packaging which could extend shelf life (and hence solderability) of these

Imersion Tin - does anyone have experience ?

We are using Immersion tin in production. We specify Omikron-plus tin which according to the information is much better in solderability and shelf life than standard immersion tin. I am not having any problems with the finish and we are running it th

We recently ran into a situation where a SMT header with tin plated tails would not wet properly during reflow. Someone told us that tin plating has a shelf life and needs to be re-tinned after a length of time. I have not heard of that before. Do

In the past we have used immersion tin as an alternative for HASL. Our biggest problem was shelf life. The tin oxidized very rapidly. We switched to immersion gold and have had great success.

I have a right angle male shrouded connector and the whole set of termination leads is tin lead plated, at least 100 microinches thick. Should the entirety of the lead be conformal coated? Or can we have just the joint coated? I know I have coated le

Immersion White Tin Process for PCB Finish

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 04 15:38:19 EST 2000 | Pat Pepper
