I hate to answer a question with a question but what are the particular effects of moisture absorption in a flex circuit?

BGA Moisture Absorption

Recommend you consult device mfg.'s data sheet or their customer support line to confirm from engineering. I think you mean't 30 C, not 300 C, because the device will likely be toast at 300 C.

PWAs & PWB bake out requirements

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 08 17:26:40 EDT 2007 | htran

Hello All, I have been searching for the board assemblies bake out requirements acceptance criteria but unsuccessful. Does anyone knows if there are general guidelines for the percentage of the moisture absorption in the PWBs and PWAs? Thanks, Tran

Don't forget the possibility of excess moisture absorption. If this is lead free, then the laminate manufacturers state that you should bake prior to assembly. Was this completed?

Tantalum caps “popcorn”

Your ppl are correct, the capacitor is not sealed. So, it is perfectly acceptable for the capacitor to have absorbed moisture. If your ppl don't either prevent moisture absorption or remove the moisture prior to soldering, their component could fail

Vacuum packaging

We do a lot of prototype work, builds occur days or months apart and moisture Absorption in IC's is a worry. I would like to bake, chuck in some silica gel and then seal or vac seal in an envelope. Does anyone have any experience of vacuum sealing wa

Glob Top Questions

Does anyone have any data or experience with voids in Glob Top applications? We are working with a RF application and I'm trying to find information on RF performance characteristics and moisture absorption on a glob toped devices. We have determined

Flat Solderable Tin as a PWB solderable surface finish

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 22 08:30:59 EST 2001 | krs

I have heard of this but do not have direct experience. Immersion tin is susceptible to moisture absorption particularly after washing off solder paste. So it sounds like your boards are picking up the solvent off the screen. Water rinse or degrease

Reusing Solder Paste

Run a test, but in our experience, yes you can reuse the paste. We ran tests on paste that was left on the stencil at the end of second shift, we put the paste back on the stencil the next day on first shift with no problems. You definitely want to

PCB Delamination

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 20 13:00:36 EST 2008 | jameskelch

Calling out materials by name locks you into laminates by brand. If these are typically phenolic materials it can lead to moisture absorption, less mechanical strength and more prone to delamination during assembly. It is more effective to refer
