Maybe your flux in the paste isn't working or simply isn't there in this new batch ? Heat a blob on the end of a soldering iron and smell it (head space analysis)(old chemist joke!) sarason

I'm not sure I could get past my outside formers smelling like a seasoned wok. To your point, I'd watch that show. It would certainly beat most of what's available these days.

Aim offers excellent soldering fluxes. That said your probably dealing with the local representative. The FIRST question to ask when evaluating any chemistry is "What is the Availability of the flux". Distributors don't necessarily stock all of a man

Why not a stink bomb during regular work hours? (If you can get any methyl mercapton, that stuff is very odorific. Smells like baby's barf. A little dab'll do ya!) That way you could gage the complaint ratio as time goes by. Could save you much elbow

We own a BTU Convection Oven. Nitrogen helps make shiny joints since it reduces oxidation during reflow. It has helped us solder marginal solderably boards but otherwise if "pretty" and "shiny" is a requirement I would consider it. It doesn't turn

Well I guess this would explain why since reading these posts that when I put a board into the oven it never comes out and there is a funny smell! It was difficult however to get the temp up to 2460 C for 200 seconds. I have never had this extra zer

Sounds like a flaw in your trap. It seams that during the pumping process the trap is ineffective or open, allowing normal sewer gases to bypass the trap and stink up your SMT area. This is similar to what happens when you do not use a drain for a lo

We are evaluating a low halide Water soldering flux (Aim WS716). Has anyone had good/bad experience with it? Our operator has mentioned strong and irrating smell, even when standing a foot away from the conveyor entry/exit. The fluxer is embedded w

Hello All, Has anyone tested the effectiveness of any process to remove lead from tinned soldering irons to RoHS acceptable levels? We have been dedicating new tips for RoHS assembly, but as our RoHS product line increases it will be important

We use silicones - better high temp for underhood. For environmental reasons we haven't used acrylics or urethanes, but would like to try them. Silicones don't like underhood fluids and are permeable to moisture. We also have the problem of UAW wo
