Hi, Thanks for the ideas. With the solder mask curing problems, can you normally wipe off the white residue, as we can do this on our boards with our fingers. It's almost like the surface of the board has a "wet dried up" look to it, and it's a smok

| I get white residue on my PCBs after vapor degreasing. No comments on the vapor degreaser. Yes, I still use one of these. I use a vapor degreaser and a 1,1,1 replacement solvent due to the quick clean and quick dry times. Anyway, I only get whi

Hi, this is not really a technical solution, just a feedback. we too have a model series using the same WS paste type. it gives a dull solder joint with white residue that can be marginally removed after post-DI water rinse (ie. not 100% removed).

Casimir: Let me expand on something that I said in my response to your thread on ionic testing. Generally, no-clean people dont use ROSE testing as part of their process control, because the ROSE test is essentially washing your board in DI/IPA

Hi, I am running a circuit board that needs a part to be put on it after cleaning and before conformal coating. the only problem is that after cleaning and hand assembly of the part, there is a thin whitish residue in the ckt board that one can see w

I'd suspect contamination also, possibly from the board supplier. Sr. Tech's post mentioned what looks like a blister on the board, in the upper right of the Q19 photo. This could very well be a contaminate from the PWB fab shop. I've seen similar pr

Never use a water softener for defluxing. They add sodium to the water which is bad for boards. The white residue may be flux. If that's the case, either the dishwasher is not powerful enough or the wash water is not hot enough. Another possibili

HASL Fluids are generally not RA based fluxes. They are generally fluxes based on hydrochloric acid or hydrobromic acid or a mixture of the two, plus some very strong wetting agents that are very hygroscopic. Doesn't the residue of hydrochloric go wh

I have seen similar things like this before with Solder Resist redepositig back on the pads, this is a clear residue very hard to see. Solder resist will obviously resist solder adhering to it. If you rework the boards then the heat of the iron will
