Steve, Two good reference books to have are 1) SMT Soldering Handbook by Rudlof Strauss (ISBN 0-7506-3589-4) 2) Soldering In Electronics by R.J. Klein Wassink( ISBN 0-901150-24-x) Regards, Chris

Problem with solder joints in wave solder

we do that and there's a variation on the solder temp. sometimes around 10 degrees, we have 2 solder pallets that are run in intervals of roughly 3 1/2 minutes a part (the time that take the operator to put all 3 terminals in a 42 pcbs per board, and

Pd/Ag doesn't usually dissolve (leach) nearly as bad as Ag only. In my hybrid days, we would use 62/36/2 solder. The 2% silver helps saturate the solder joint and thus keep the Ag from being leached away by the Sn.

No-Clean or water

No-clean solder paste is definately a trend for tomorrow. However, there are several points you need to consider before you shift from WS to no-clean: 1. Component quality - No-clean solder paste generally (not essentially) get a lower avtivity than

Hi davef, thanks again for that enlightenment. I'm just curious about what's happening with the solder joint of the said process. Again to add to my unending queries for now: So on top of that copper is a thin layer of lead-free solder composition

Since I'm new to the forum I probably ask previously answered questions (that I have not found) but I would be grateful if someone could clarify this for me. I'm in R&D at a company where we design low volume (1k-10k) fairly complex PCBAs for our pr

| I'm having problems with trying to get a good solder joint using a Ceramic PCB. We are using AMTECH hi-temp solder (ws-486 96.5/3.5ag). My profile looks great and I used the recommended profile from Amtech with a few adjustments. My max temp is abo
