Re: Cleaning PCB's after routing

| Hello, | I am looking for suggestions for cleaning pcb's after the routing (fabrication) process. Keep in mind that these pcb do not have components intalled on them yet. | We have considered pre-drilling the routing plunge points, but cost and ca

Heller MK3 edge chain maintenance

In general the chains don't need to be heated to 400 deg C for cleaning. In other words, most of the fluxes and constituents in the paste don't collect on the chain and gum it up. Bottom line: the heat treatment is not needed for 95% of the users.

Min spacing for land patterns from PCB edge

FSW, Another suggestions is if you have rail on your product and you are concerned about stress fracturing certain components you could add a routed slot to add relief in that area. So when you snap the rail off their would be no stress in that area

Boardhouse, would it be possible to attach a picture of such a routed slot together with a V cut? I was always told the 2 don't work together that well because of tolerances.

We use a FKN pizza cutter and found that even with 5mm clearance and the proper orientation of the part larger ceramic capacitors 1812, 1210 would still stress fracture. We have successfully fixed stress fracture problems by adding routed relief slot

Right!!!! We have built product with via holes only 0.010" off the edge of the routed edge or even routed them in half, which usually adds cost and shorts to the chassis. Most high speed routing has a tolerance of +- 0.005". It's common for UL fi

Beyond Convention Routing?

Looking into options besides routing for a .032" thick board with components located near edges. Has anyone ever tried water jet cutting or other technologies for a high volume, high mix environment.

Alternatives to v-score or mouse-bites?

Thin FR4 can be routed with a CO2 laser with high quality results, the edge is precise and free of slag. The process is extremely low stress. If the edges are straight you can consider sawing. 0.4mm (0.016") FR4 can be laser routed and sawn at spee

Depanel requirements

We are currently running a new product with some very tight tolerances while depaneling. We are using a table top 3 axis robot w/ a drill. My question is what is the min/max distance between a component and the edge of the board? I'm having a hard ti

Stress induced during V-score depaneling

thats very close to the edge. it is preferable to have at least 3mm clearance to edge, or more ideally 5mm. If the chips are too near to the edges, you might want to modify the panel by routing through the area next to the chips. This would eliminate
