Entek is Enthone's OSP [organic solderability protection]. It is widely used in the PCB fabrication business. Imidazole (Via Systems) is good, but is not as widely available. Search the fine SMTnet Archive on: * OSP * Entek CU-56, Entek Plus CU-10

Cleaning of Entek Boards

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 18 21:04:06 EDT 2002 | davef

So, why can't you clean misprints on Entek boards? Entek: Cheap, flat, OK shelf life, not without process and fabrication issues. Your Entek organic solderability protection is probably Entek Plus [CU106A] made by Ethone OMI. Consider getting a co

Flash Gold over Nickel - PCB finishing

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 01 06:54:19 EST 2000 | Roni H.

Hi, Does anyone have experience with gold over nickel (electroless) PCB finish: - Repeatble quality from PCB mfg. (very "painfull" with ENTEK). - Environment condition sensitivity. - Thermal processes sensitivity. - Solderability (Reflow & wave). -

Re: N-tech osp problems

Never heard of N-Tech. Whose material do they use? Two common materials are: Imidazole (Via Systems) and Entek (Enthone) OSP is a lacquer that fabs apply to boards by either spraying or dipping. What thickness control does your fab use? For inst

Dunno about 310M flux, but I share your concerns about CU56. You might rethink your selection of solderability perservative, because Enthone: * CU56 allows one thermal cycle. * CU106A allows three thermal cycles. Good luck Dave F

You aren't going to post our stuff on your "Hey, I'm the wizard site", are you? Board fab, Pad coatings, OSP 1 OSPs: Imidazole (Via Systems) is good. Entek (Enthone) works, but requires strict thickness control in fab. 2 Enthone CU56 allows one t

Cleaning procedures for Entek-Plus Cu-106A

Earl said, in essence: | Justin is absolutely right ... | | Again, Entek is not much more than a flux coating ... | | Metallic coatings protect best, as we all know - especially those electroplated. Those coatings chemical come in next to no coati

How do you clean OSP PCB's without washing it off?

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 14 20:11:19 EDT 2006 | davef

You weren't specific about the OSP that you use. We use Entek Plus CU-106A. Yes, just about everything removes Entek, especially if there's heat involved. Ethone states: * Alcohol strips 70% of the coating * Water removes 15% * Kyzen Lonox only t
