Hello, I had experienced this kind of problem; Because the Au film is very thin (flash gold..) it is sometimes porositive and the Ni barrier below get Oxidation. After reflow there seems to be good solder fillets (visualy perfect!) but the leads wit

Insufficient Heel Fillets on plastic 240 pin QFPs

I'm not familiar with Laser Soldering. I don't believe it to be a problem with the QFP themselves, since the two plastic parts are from different vendors in the same package. We also are having similar problems with other plastic parts on other boa

Solder Fillet on Gull Wing Lead

Oh boy, I prefer the fillet at heel of course, the toe you cant trust. The solderable finish of the leads is applied and than the leads are cut leaving the toes without this so much loved finish. guess how that looks after youve finished your job.

Inspection criteria on PIH parts

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 04 17:16:13 EDT 2004 | Richard

Can anyone comment on inspection criteria for PIH applications. I'm of the opinion that the inspection criteria used for wave soldered joints should be used for PIH. Some colleagues believe that a bottom side fillet is not necessary since the solde

Lead Free ...

What type of alloy and at what temperature do you use for wave soldering? Do you need to modify your machine? I am using SCN but I have problem controlling my bath. Are you running on multilayer board or PTH boards? Do you face any fillet lifting

Micro crack for lead free wave solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 03 21:29:59 EDT 2005 | Ken

Yes, lead can promote fillet lift. In order to understand this defect you must begin looking at your lead frame mateials. some lead frames are more susceptable to this disorder. This is most likely a cte mismatch disorder. Lead contamination in

Fillet Tearing

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 23 22:26:53 EST 2006 | Joseph

Dear all, Referring comment from Mr. Jack,IPC director certification & assembly technology, the term "fillet tearing" is too broad. Cracks or fractures in the required fillet area, with SnPb or LF alloy and whether you call it tearing or not, is a D

How much capacitor offset is acceptable?

You need to get yourself a copy of IPC 610. this has all the specs regrding placement and registration. chip aprts are allowed to have 50% side overhang. the fillet requirements are "evidence of wetted fillet" . I would not know if a cap being 51
