Electronics Forum | Wed May 22 22:59:04 EDT 2002 | alex_kirichenko

Hello!!! Just to say, I've never even heard about placing parts on double-sided tape for inspection... We always build one board placing parts on paste/glue and inspect it befor reflow. With suppliers specs of 6hours at least, I don't see any prob

Temporary Stencil for MPC555 PBGA

Electronics Forum | Tue May 28 09:27:04 EDT 2002 | pjc

Does this PBGA have eutectic balls? If so and the PCB is HASL finish, or has solder on the lands from BGA removal, you may not have to apply solderpaste. Check with you flux supplier to see if they offer a NC "flux paste" product, otherwise I know Mu

Production Line Setup

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 19 14:44:11 EDT 2002 | kenbliss

It sounds like your inspector improved quality and pre-staging your feeders dramaticaly increased uptime on your machine, thats great to hear. One cautiionary note, be careful not to flood your production area with parts off of your SMT line. With

Reflow PBGA

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 26 10:35:20 EDT 2002 | jaimebc

Using white labels on xouts works for us. I prefer to used the machine BBR ( Bad board recognition ) when building multiple arrays with no pattern on xouts. We always run xouts last, therefor, we enable the BBR only to finish the arrays with X on it.

Refreshing PCB Solderability

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 14 16:44:54 EDT 2002 | dragonslayr

What is the surface finish? HASL, Entek? what? If HASL, ask your fab supplier for recommendations, maybe even rerun the boards through the HASL process. The fab house would have to strip off the old coating and reapply. Just a thought, depends on y

Baked Components

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 15 22:35:54 EDT 2002 | Brandon

I've done some experiments on baking parts as we got pop corning QFP's on our production line. This QFP has moisture level of 5 and I baked them @ 125'C for minimum of 12 hrs. So far results were great but I have a question: Forum says that I cannot

Gregg, We had a similar problem with our 0603 leds. They were being placed bang on, however, during the reflow, they twisted, fell sideways etc. We played with our profile, played with the paste volume & land pattern design, and only had a small impr
