From my understanding (and I am not a metalurgist)Most Lead free solders can be intercahngeable. The alloy created should be stable. The issue is if you add Leaded solder to the joint. Obviously, research and testing is still pending. cal

John, there have been quite a few discussion on Mixed Assemblies in this forum.. do a search.. you will get whole lot of information.. in addition - IF you are using Lead-free reflow profile...make sure the rated temp for Sn-Pb components is not vi

If you are talking about reflowing surfacemount on the solder side of the assembly, that is accomplished by gluing the smt components to the bottom of the board. I recomend that you use a chip wave in conjuction with the normal wave to get the best r

This has come up a number of times recently and a search for intrusive reflow or pin in hole reflow will reveal several threads. Also a good resource is the link below. From what has been stated on many of these forums and my own pre-production tes

This recipe is nice for leaded soldering. The time above liquidous plus 20*C is too short for mixed alloy soldering. Remember all that nonleaded stuff that you add to the solder acts to increase the liquidous temperature of the alloy. Try slowing

Good afternoon, We run mixed LF/SnPb process for most of out products. Most of chip passives have lead free termination and some of them tend towards blistering issue. SnPb solder wets component in very strange way. Wetting phenomena seems to be abn

1)Though in many cases the difference between SAC305 and SAC405 was small, and not always statistically significant, it was observed that SAC405 generally outperformed SAC305 joints. Under 0°C to 100°C thermal cycling,no statistically significant

What you have run up against is the unfortunate consequence of the transition period from Sn-Pb to Pb-free. In the past 2-3 years there have been several studies highlighting the differences in reliability between mixed metal systems, Sn/Pb, and SAC

Ken: Since Earl is no longer here, I guess I'll bite on this. Your questions are very broad and difficult to answer specifically. So, I'll give you broad and non-specific answers. | Hi, | | We are using mixed technology in our PCBA. Would like to
