Hi Dougs, I'm getting a funny feeling here... what's the part number & manufacturer? Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob, I've decided at the moment to put them all over the wave, i'll keep looking into getting alternatives that are designed to be suitable and later on will hopefully switch some parts over. many thanks again Dougs

Acually, Dr. Shocker, DaveF is correct. The high power spray can bend the metal between the aperatures on fine pitch parts. I'm sure it's not common, but I have seen this happen. I have not, however, stood on any stencils. Sounds like fun.

Short term, taped the gold finger. long term, study the air flow of the reflow section of the oven. It is always being overlook at this part and lookout for the printer. The air flow must be laminar and properly flowed back.

Is the hole always in the same solder joint? What parts do you see the hole(s) on? Can you try a different paste?

I am looking for some web sites that will tell me the type of SOT-23 I need by the package code. ASG is all I have to identify the part I need. I looked on Datasheet.com and a few others but had no luck. Thanks for the input!!

Set-down height to low, iow, parts getting squashed too deeply into the paste. No mask between pads on fine pitch. Pads too wide for the pitch.

Usually when someone is just guessing on what to t-shoot, they will always choose the most expensive part. BGA, QFP, GPS Module....... Same groups believe you can get rid of defects by wearing smocks.

Hi Rob, I guess what I meant was if you know it's this resistor that it only happens too, you may have a tuff time finding out why it's only this part doing.

pre forms at least in my experience have been very cumbersome and expensive. in both piece part price and labor to install. If possible have the preforms installed on your widget prior to buying Russ
