Russ, We can not use a wave pallet, already went that route. We have parts next to the thru-hole pins and between thru-hole pins. I am going to try an experiment in the next day or so with solder mask. I plan to solder SMT parts on the back of se

Solder Balls and Humidity

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 23 16:28:14 EDT 2007 | grics

I want to get a collective opinion from the forum... I was always under the impression that Humidity at SMT can be a disaster and can cause solder balls... But what about at the Wave/Selective solder? If every board or almost every board has solder

Headers and SMT

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 27 14:28:00 EDT 2015 | swiese242

I would suggest investing in a selective solder machine as well. This has saved us on a ton of labor and headaches. The customized brackets for the wave is not cheap. I would first check auctions to save thousands...

Headers and SMT

Typically - hand soldering as you are currently doing. Should your volume justify it you can invest in a selective soldering solution, these might take the form of a robotic arm that essentially replicates manual soldering or a solder jet similar to

solderability and hasl thickness

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 11 16:50:18 EDT 2003 | davef

Sure it's conceivable that thin HASL can cause tombstoning. Harkening back to the ample discussion in the fine SMTnet Archives, tombstoning is caused by an imbalance in solder surface tension between the two pads of SMT component. The source of thi

So others can solder the same board and part but you can't. Dipping the legs in flux doesn't help. Then it's either your pre-heat or wave. Measure your pre-heat and compare to others or flux mfger. Do you have chip wave or something like an Omega

SMT and TH board carrier

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 27 10:25:52 EDT 1999 | Matthew Park

Is it feasible to have one type of board carriers to take boards thru 1) glue curing process for first side and 2)invert carriers with boards, and 3)reflowing second side, and 4) do manual stuffing of th components and 5) take them thru selective wav

Foam fluxer maintenance, storage and cleaning

Thinner: Flux thinner, NOT paint thinner We kept a spare stone in thinner in inventory. We cut PVC pipe to size, cap in one end, screw thread on the other, stone inside, filled with flux thinner and covered with a screw cap. I don't remember who we
