Because IPC APEX EXPO will be held in January for the next five years, IPC will move its standards development committee meetings normally scheduled in Fall to June in 2019. This decision follows a survey of the standards committees where respondents indicated they would prefer to hold in-person standards development meetings in the summer months to have ample time to work on documents. IPC previously hosted its Fall Committee Standards Development meetings in conjunction with SMTA International (SMTAI).

IPC’s hand soldering competition returned to the United States with the first-ever IPC Hand Soldering World Championship and Rework Competition, held at IPC APEX EXPO 2019 in San Diego, California. Contestants representing Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand participated in the event.

In addition to experiencing a 22 percent increase in first-day show floor attendance, IPC APEX EXPO hosted a sold-out exhibition: 479 exhibitors showcased cutting-edge products and services on 149,700 net square feet, making it the largest exhibition in a decade. And with more than 80 percent of the 4,574 attendees identifying themselves as key buyers or influencers, the exhibitors at North America's largest electronics assembly event enjoyed three days of qualified leads, business development and brisk sales.

IPC invites researchers, technical experts and industry leaders to submit abstracts for poster presentations at IPC APEX EXPO, the industry's premier conference and exhibition for electronics manufacturing. Poster presentation networking sessions are scheduled for February 25 from 5:00-6:00 pm; February 26 from 2:30-3:30 pm; and February 27 from 12:00-2:00 pm. For the first time ever, poster presentations will take place on the APEX EXPO show floor, maximizing the potential audience for poster presenters.
