Additionally, MIRTEC received the prestigious 2016 Service Excellence Award (SEA) from Circuits Assembly magazine in the Test and Inspection category. Mike Buetow, Circuits Assembly’s Editor-in-Chief, presented the awards to Brian D’Amico, President of MIRTEC’s North American Sales and Service Division during a Tuesday, March 15, 2016 ceremony that took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® would like to announce the release of additional test coupons for the IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator, an exclusive annual subscription service for IPC member companies. The IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator subscription service is the only service providing new, industry approved test coupons addressing blind, buried, stacked and staggered via structures. The most commonly used coupons for product acceptance are “AB,” “AB/R” and “D” which were introduced in 2016.

IPC’s popular standards, J-STD-001, recognized globally for its criteria on soldering processes and materials, and IPC-A-610, the most widely used electronics assembly acceptance document, complement each other when used together. IPC offers a new technical education course, Process and Acceptability Requirements: Utilizing J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Together, to provide instruction on how best to use these documents jointly.

Following two years in development, a draft of the industry’s first standard on the assembly of solar panels, IPC-8701, Visual Acceptance Criteria for Solar Panels - Final Module Assembly, was released today for industry review and comment. For the first time, IPC hosted a regional hand soldering competition in Vincenza, Italy, at Focus on PCB May 17-18. Welcoming 28 competitors representing 20 Italian companies, contestants competed to build an assembly in accordance with IPC-A-610, Class 3 criteria and were judged on the functionality of the assembly, compliance with the assembly process, and overall product quality. IPC Master Instructors (MIT) from IPC training center GestLabs judged contestants, allowing a maximum of one hour to complete the process.
