Reflow Temperatures and speed for a 7 zone top/bot for conceptro

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 17 07:17:09 EDT 2003 | James

The main problem I am having is getting the Rising slope 1-3 degrees. If I slow the conveyor down then I have too long of a reflow and if I speed it up then my ramp rate is too high. I was not sure if I need my first zones at a low temp or higher t

Hair Line Solder Short at PTH Connector

What is the pitch of the device and what type of flux are you using? You may eridicate the fault by using a more active flux. I assume you are flowsoldering the device as opposed to paste in hole. Do you have an air knife? If so, you could tr

Time above liquidus

Electronics Forum | Thu May 10 08:09:52 EDT 2007 | davef

There is no standard for time above liquidus. It is described rather broadly by the solder paste supplier. Reflow Zone: If the temperature is too high, boards may char or burn. If the temperature is too low, cold and grainy solder joints will resul

Very thin laminate substrate problem with solder printing

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 31 08:59:24 EST 2017 | rob

Hi Joshua, We ran 150K per week this way, you just need a lot of pallets. Regarding dispensing I've seen 0201 (Imperial)paste dispensed, so about 0.4ish mm dots. I'm sure the Mydata printer is also pretty high resolution too, but not too quick.

Moisture Sensative Components

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 05 17:54:04 EST 2004 | davef

Even with the best of intentions, some lots of components just last too long. Recognize that controlled environment storage is only a delaying tactic. So when the piper come to play and baking becomes inevitable, we "repackage" components in tubes

QFP rework

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 01 12:05:21 EST 2004 | babe

Heat guns scare me, hot air scares me too. Just the heck of it why not apply high temp paste to the center and eutectic 63/37 standard solder to the outside pads. The outside reflows first allowing proper seating of the component and with a proper pr

What to buy

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 09 14:33:11 EST 2007 | oldsmtdude

I would concur about clean room problems especially with a high mix changeover environment. Paper tape is horribly dusty and just the cover tape pulling away generates a lot of dust. There was a day when everyone said paper was on the way out for

Cleaning procedure when WS609 flux is used

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 21 11:12:20 EST 2008 | davef

Just what is delaminationg during testing? Water washing should be sufficient to clean WS609. On the other hand, it's possible you're conveyor speed is too high to do a good job cleaning the high density areas. What kind of testing have you done to

285 is way too high a temperature for a measured part or ball temperature. It's also high for a modern convection oven set point even at reflow. If you have imagages of the problem we may be able to assist you further even on Chritmas Eve?? Bob Wil

Sudden paste release problem

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 10 09:14:09 EST 2005 | davef

Don't kid yourself, something has changed. * Worn stencils should produce better release and greater paste deposits than less worn stencils. * Consider inspecting the effectiveness of your cleaning process with a X10 magnifier. * Temperature in your
