On going from 24v to 18v, try: * Voltage regulator * Resistor divider * Transformer On not generating heat or loosing energy, the laws of physics already are pretty well fixed.

A switching regulator should give you upwards of 85% efficiency. National Semiconductors 'Simple Switchers' are pretty good, and they have some good design tools on their site.

Hello. What kind of void are you seeing? You said the part was a BGA, is it being underfilled or is it a solder void?

Hi Dave, A switching regulator is probably your best bet for efficency - Power Integrations are very good in this arena (www.powerint.com) and have lots of applications support available (Circuit diagrams, engineers etc.). Also ST Microelectronics
