Can anyone share with me the price you pay for LF solder paste? I have a chinese brand on hand that is purported to reflow well in air and leave shiny joints and minimal solder balls. It does not flow like lead based solder of course, nothing does.

I'd say your profile is about right, assuming these are values that you measured in the balls of this BGA and not elsewhere on the board. If you want a more shiny joint than use a nitrogen oven or experiment with various solder pastes, but why the he

We have tested SN100C for LF wave soldering process since August'05 and currently start production for a month ago. Initially we use SAC305, but due to the shrinkage cavities (micro-crack) we changeover to SN100C. In summary, SN100C did perform well

Can also reduce leaching of certain types of components. Also, dont expect to see a "shiny/bright" joint if running Nitrogen in the relfow unit, you'll see a dull/smokey like joint...if running Air then sure, let SHINE! my 2Cents DaveK

As a solder paste supplier I have profiled lots of different makes of ovens. I really like the Heller 1707. I have several customers who do lead free mid volume assembly with these ovens. They also seem to give shiny lead free joints.
