ways to erase/cover IC marking

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 11 00:32:16 EST 2008 | johnlee9210

Prior to packing the boards, we cover the marking on the IC by dispensing epoxy on top it. This is a way to protect our design so no one can copy it. We have a lot of boards and the optr takes a long time doing it manually. im thinking of using a pne

ways to erase/cover IC marking

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 14 23:02:52 EST 2008 | davef

You don't mention any particular IC or manufacturer or marking method. However, most IC marking is done with lasers these days. The laser actually alters the encapsulation so the only way to erase the marking is to remove the encapsulation. Otherwise

The ones on EBAY are 20x - 40x on a boom with a 12 watt ring light. Yeah the fiber optic light will definitely run the price up. These are looking like the best deal around. I was hoping somone on here would know of a used equipment dealer or somethi

Thanks for the info. I use the machine with a 1mil for resistors and capacitors and the machine with the 2.6mil for ICs (both have a 4mil.) This is because the r's & c's seem to benefit from the 1mil, more than IC's. I was thinking of making the mach

Check stanley supply and techni tool. They have rack with no doors but you could prob fab something up. 8020 stuff isnt cheap either. I bet it would cost about 400+ to build a stencil rack plus all the labor and thinking involved. That being said, I

We have a Kic 2000 9 channel. The options for this unit were 9 or 12. I do not remember what we paid for it but the Kic Navigator and its prediction capabilities really reduce required profile time. I have also used Datapak and Mole but not for year

Having been around the block, an old lead head from way back, I've used MOLE, KIC,and Datapaq. They all do the same thing, but I'd have to give the edge to KIC. 9 ports and automatic wave detection. Also, KIC2000 is as user friendly as you can get
