Steve, I have to support the comments made by Dave F. Provided the surface mount parts on the second side are correctly orientated and not too close to any adjacent through hole leads then the best option has to be to print glue then wave solder. T

Hi Dave, If my solder paste is RMA based and my Wave Solder flux is NC Based, will there be incompatibility problem that might arise during the process? thanks

Hi Dave, If my solder paste is RMA based and my Wave Solder flux is NC Based, will there be incompatibility problem that might arise during the process? And if i don't clean my boards what will be the possible effects of the residues left? thanks

Bob, Is Nitrogen a "MUST" for reflow and wave soldering of the Lead-Free Solder Alloys ? And is post cleaning be a great impact when converting to Lead-Free Solders ?

Assuming you're seeing this during wave solder, the via acts like a heat pipe conducting 450F [or whatever] air to your solder balls. Check the fine SMTnet Archives for similar threads and perspective on the direction to take.

IPC SM 782 has some info on wave solder pad geometries. We usually like .03" spacing to any uncommon conductors. I would assume that you are seeing shorts between components and vias or adjacent parts? Russ

Hi I'read in last month Elektor about it. Some manufacturers own a soldering stations containing pipes tightened on the top of the solder in order to inhal the lead air. Looks interesting Maybe there something on their web www.elektor-electronics.co.

Assuming the poor hole fill is not localized, try: * Inadequate preheat * Flux specific gravity is low * Low solder temperature * Conveyor is running too fast * Solder pot is contaminated

Hi, We are looking for the best method to clean dried solder paste and residue from screen printers and wave solder equipment. What do you use for vacuuming? For breathing protection?

I ran into this yesterday. Seems some designer decided to not solder resist the via's on the solder side. Then the assembly went over the wave solder in a universal fixture. Not an ideal situation.
