ICT testing to improve yields

We check the resistors to value check them. We are using resistors that are not marked in any way shape or form. We also hand build everything so it is very possible to have our operators place the wrong part in the wrong spot. From a time point of v

No such thing as a Compact Reflow Oven?

Electronics Forum | Wed Mar 28 03:26:57 EDT 2018 | reckless

Thanks Rob, I bought it. Agreed its a good way to get my feet wet. By my math, it should do 1 10" board per minute. Too fast for even my dream production setup. So I may become a huge fan if it works. Not considering Nitrogen unless it doesnt wo

Nordic aQFN73 stencil design

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 18 17:09:45 EDT 2018 | slthomas

Update - next run started out horribly so went to another stencil design. Reduced thermal pad coverage by about 40% with 4 panes, with cutouts to avoid the vias. Worked like a charm for 10 boards (90 parts). I think we're finally on to something.

What's the best company for low volume, quick turn around PCB assembly?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 07 17:25:24 EST 2016 | hegemon

Not sure how anyone could pretend to "ballpark" a cost for a board, regardless of size, especially in small quantities. You might need 10 assemblies, but the MOQ for your main component might be 100, 200, 500, 5K pcs. Makes me laugh every time I

Rheopump vs. squeegee

If you require several changeovers per shift the quick connect closed loop pump option would be your best bet.You can change between pump and blades within minutes. Hoever if you have several different size pumps a simple pump switch over would be pe

Kinda what I thought, Ken, what would the parameters be relating to sphericity, flux, etc... We use type 3 63/37 usually watersoluble but for this I think I'm gonna have to use no-clean paste. When you say it can be done, what exactly does that

cost analysis: Manual vs. Auto insertion pick and place

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 04 13:33:15 EDT 2006 | Chunks

Hi Phil, It all depends on your product. You say small lot sizes, but are your board 20 by 20 inches in size with 5K parts both top and bottom? If so then even building 3 of these could take you days to build. Then take you weeks to trouble shoot

PBGA open connection

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 03 09:23:55 EDT 2006 | kenscj

We are encountering BGA solder open connection. At Functional Test, the board failed. Debug guy diagnosed this BGA open connection (2 locations), by using multimeter. Under 5DX inspection, there is connection. Take the board for localised reflow at

Attrition... how to measure it?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 24 21:30:09 EST 2012 | jorge_quijano

It means the machine places another component, no missing PCBs are built. As an update I have measured this % in the newest machine and it is below 1%, but in our worst machine (old quad) it is as high as 9% for a small batch of 10 boards (~15 comp p
