What do you want to do with the gerber file? Most gerber outputted data is in ascii and can be read with notepad or any text editor. If you want to view the gerber data there are free viewers on the web ie: gerbv.sourceforge.net Hope this helps.

Hi There are a couple of options that you have: 1) have you tried to open the file using note pad, is it an ascii text format? 2)if it is a ascii file then you can edit the file by just leaving the centroid information. 3)OR call Fuji America at 847.

I have some files from the 1980's that I need to convert to Gerber. Some contain ASCII and some don't. There is a reference to Personal CAD Systems, Inc., PC-CAPS and PC-CARDS. Can anyone convert this or tell me if software is available to do it?

Try PCBSynergy, it has several versions of Mydata SMT formats in its list of output formats. So take your CAD file and select the nearest Mydata format for your machine and alter the Origin calculator section for the layout of panels that you need. S
