Re: Poor solderability

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 11 05:43:21 EST 2000 | Wolfgang Busko

Hi Russ, I thought about it and what approach I would do. All that talk about causes and reasons doesnt solve the problem. To determine wether its the PCB, the component or the process I would take a bare board, a component ( and maybe a different

Mario, Good Luck. Your not likely to find a used unit. The Flo-Master SMD-5000 is a great unit that dosen't break. We've had units working 2 shifts for over 3 years without a single spare. When a unit works this well people don't give them up.

Hello Claude Its likely, by the DB9 and the age, that this is an EGA monitor. This is a a predecessor to today's VGA. A few ideas: TV store or monitor repair facility to fix the old one. Outside of the CRT or flyback transformer they are generally

Thanks for the reply Stevo...! I am looking at doing just that. I would really like to ID this component and repair this Pico board though... After several searches, I can't find any (3) element resistor or capacitor networks to match it. I'm hop

Double sided assembly

Hi! Has anyone out there ever tried to use a high-temp and a low-temp solder paste on a double-sided board without using an adhesive? (Populate the bottom side with the high temp paste, reflow, turn it over, then run the top side). I looked in the

Vickij, Why not try using regular temp. paste for both sides? Unless you have some real heavy parts on both sides, you can run a double-sided reflow process with most boards. I myself like to place R's and C's first (or bottom side) and then do an

SO18 Wavesoldering

I searched the archives and couldn't find anything specific. Our designers would like me to wave solder an SO18 on an upcoming product. My IPC standards have land patterns, but no recommendation on wavesoldering. This is a higher pin count than we

Dave, It will all be about the same - changing atmospheres does not affect your heater output. You may experience some differences in the way your solder joints look (a little duller), but with some of the newer pastes out there, you can overcome i
