This has been a problem from the start. I used a digital flowmeter to check exhaust and both sides are pretty even, however, I do not know if its exhausting too much or not enough, just going on the PE specs...but then again...do they really know. I

Flux drop in lead free process

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 08 21:23:16 EST 2006 | Harsha

I am seeing a problem of flux droping on the PCBA during reflow. This is a pb free process and I am using KOKI pb free paste with 8 zone (and some 9 zone) reflow ovens. Line throughput is about 10,000 boards/24 hours. I suspect that the exhaust is no

Dirty Reflow owens.

Sure looks like flux residue to me and I don't know how your bare boards could be causing that unless there's something on them when you get them, and that you would notice. I'd still be looking at my own system, blowers and exhaust lines. Do any of

If you're going to vent through a single exhaust/fan combo, I would recommend spending the money, and getting an HVAC company in there to size the exhaust fan, and duct work. It'll pay dividends for you in the future. We did that at a previous comp

What I have seen used are belt driven roof mounted exhausts. There would be a drum fan that is driven by belt and motor. That way the fumes never go over the motor or the belt. We would have to replace the belt every couple of years or so but then it

trailer tape length

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 03 14:54:11 EDT 1999 | DWR

Has anyone had a problem with the trailer tape length being too short and causing placement machine to stop for parts exhaust (SMT parts)? I realize the EIA spec. is set for this length but would like to know what issues you have had. Thanks

Re: Spray Fluxers

| Does anyone have any recommendations on spray fluxers? Are there major differences between the high priced ultrasonic machines to the low priced flux/air spraying machines? We are going to be spraying an OA flux with 11% solids content. Are there a

Soldering

Mr.Dave.F has given an exhaustive answer. I just want to mention that some attention could be paid to the plating & contaminants on the PCB. We have experienced longer soldering time due to the presence of contaminants on the plated surface.

oven resin from adhesives

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 13 16:47:22 EDT 2002 | mick

The residues are from the flux, not adhesive. Do you have flux management system in oven? You also need to check the flux type = can you use low solids. The effect is the same as steam in bathroom - it is cooling affects in exhaust and flux reforming
