Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 06 09:43:30 EDT 2006 | slthomas

Sorry, just reread your post. Nevermind. FWIW, I'd be pretty careful about splicing a different piece of gear into a hardwired connection unless you know that the current and voltage requirements of each item are the same. However, who's to say tha

layer 2 groundplane disconnects after hand solder

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 10 13:25:08 EDT 2009 | jefflkupkt

Layer 2 is the ground plane layer of a 4 layer board. After installing a 2.5 mm DC power jack and 0.1 center SIP header by hand, the ground pin disconnects and causes an open. My board supplier said they passed Electrical Test. Prepreg was within

They are probably getting a little hot. So that leaves several courses of action. 1: Don't place them before reflow and hand finish. 2: Shield them with a little folded shield to decrease heat transfer. 3: Speed up the time through the oven, but th

Headers and SMT

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 29 11:37:52 EDT 2015 | robl

Hi Marlyn, We use durastone pallets over a wave - so areas machined out so the solder can get to the pins but not the SMT. You can also get fancy selective solder machines, but I'm guessing that as you're asking you haven't got one. Hope that help
