Ok, help me out here guys and gals...... I have never understood the concept of scoring on mixed technology or SMT boards. It is quite obvious to me that the potential for SMT solder joint damage through the mechanical stresses of breakout are high.

Gold Immersion - Soft Joints

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 25 14:48:29 EDT 1999 | William

All, I am having a problem with joints being soft after SMT. Especially 25 mil and smaller parts. It seems as though you can slide the leads right off of the solder. It takes only about 30-40 oz. of compression at 45 deg. to move leads off of join

Thank you so much Dave for all of your wonderful help. You know, all I really wanted to know was a little more about the gold porosity problem. Since I am not an expert on gold immersion, nor do I claim to be, I just wanted some information so that

| Is anyone aware of a web page for military spec's? I am looking for Mil-P-28809. | | Thanks, | Mike Demos | MIL-P-28809 is definitely obsolete. Not only obsolete, it was possibly the most scientifically flawed standard ever to to be printed. I

| Our first article inspection after machine placement can take several hours depending on the complexity of the board. The operator visually checks the board against the drawing and bill of material. I'd be interested to hear if there are any other
