If you get a response to this, I might have a need to look into something similar. Though, I don't need adhesive..I need something more like kapton or masking dots. I am working on a new job that requires conformal coating, and LEDs that need to be

They're open ended on the thickness (read that as, have no clue). They've indicated that they would like the coating to protect the circuitry from ESD, and mechanical shock. They also would like to be able to see the LED's through the material. An

Also coating costs depends on solids content vs final dry film thickness. Some newer UV coatings are 100% solids, so what you put down you get on the PCB after cure, use no solvents at all. So a cost to look at are qty of PCB per litre of material. T

If you know you have cleaned any flux residues that were under there you could consider a bead of an electronic grade RTV, such as RTV3145. If you trap any uncleaned residues under there you could have long term reliability problems. But, like Dave

Bright ideas??? Bright ideas!!! I got bright ideas. In order of decreasing luminosity: * Stop installing the socket, solder the PLCC to the board, dip the board. The socket is a waste of time and money. You never replace the PLCC in the field, a

I have been put incharge of developing a process to rework a doublesided SMT PCB with DCA/COB (direct chip attach, chip on board ) components. The rework will consist of removing some 603-1206 chips on both sides of PCB, oh yeah its has a polyuretha

| If I clean my assembly and find no visable contamination with the unaided eye, do I need to do cleanliness testing prior to conformal coating? | Douglas, It is highly advisable to test for ionic contaminants because a coating seals in as well as

We are in the process of revamping our conformal coating room. Presently, we have a C-740 Nordson Asymtek coating machine that sprays most of our boards with Dow Corning 2577. We are spending a lot of time masking boards and are thinking of upgrading

Todd, All liquid coatings are Newtonian - they follow gravity so they do indeed run away from sharp leads and edges. Silicones are generally worse because they have very low surface energy - although this is an asset when trying to get under compone
