I am currently exploring the option of screenprinting chipbonder for backside devices, mostly passives, 0603 and up. Does anyone have any experience with this? What are the pros/cons? What are the stencil design considerations? What about blades, material, angle, etc.? I have read that the standard stencil is thick plastic, but that better success is being achieved with laminated stainless. Does anyone have any experience with either? Any help is appreciated.

We use steel stencils. The adhesive manufacturer can give recommendations for squeegee type, material, pressure, etc. A lot of the tech data sheets include this information.

Screening adhesive can be messy but is alot quicker than using a glue machine as long as you setupyour stencil machine either manual or machine, we also use steel stencils with a stainless squeegee but you can use a rubber squeegee not sure about pressure/angle on a mchine printer as we use manual screen printer which you can adjust accordingly to get the best results - make sure you clean your stencils well at the end of the day espesially if you are printing 0603 as the holes are alot smaller - does this info help at all?
