Hello, We have recently purchased an older MPM via auction and I am trying to get it running but not getting too far. When I power it up it goes thru a boot sequence then a screen appears on the monitor with a "warning cover not closed, close cover and press next button". The magnetic interlocks on the cover are damaged and we did not get the key to switch to cover interlock bypass mode so I have tried to jumper the wires that lead to the bypass key switch but this has not worked. I am wondering if it may be more than just an interlock problem and maybe software related because I believe that even with the interlocks not made the machine should still continue to boot and bring me to the actual operator screen? I did purchase the operator/ programming manual from MPM but there really is nothing to help me in there other than a description of the startup sequence which reads that I should see a message stating "reset is about to start. Press next to continue or exit to quit." I never get this message which has led me to question whether I have more trouble than just an interlock problem? Sorry so long but any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's pretty funny.............change the cognex card.

Jim you indeed have an interlock problem an if this is a UP-3000 which I suspect it is there are several interlocks if I recall correctly.

Hi Jim, We had a similar problem with an AP-27. You could try to jumper the wires which lead in to the reed switch. Failing that you could swap out the opto module for this, in our machine it's located in rack 2-15. Rgards, Kev.

Jim,

You need to repair or by-pass the cover interlock. The machine thinks it's open and will not procede any further. They all do it, even the new models.

Once you get past this warning - you will get the the RESET window - garanteed.
