JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION AND MATERIAL PLANNING MANAGER DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS REPORTS TO: VP OF OPERATIONS PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Will include the design, management and implementation of a formalized production planning/capacity planning system. Includes the development of a resource plan, to include but not limited to, the following: requirements for resources, including material, methods, manpower, and machines which will support the monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue plan. Recommends work force levels. Recommends priorities for scarce resources within the plant. Individual will work with the various planners, team leaders and other appropriate team personnel in establishing and reviewing the production plan for revenue as well as ensuring that all resources needed are available when needed. The individual will be responsible for working with the teams, and corporate purchasing to insure the reduction of inventory. Establishes metrics for the production planning process. Responsible for management of ERP system. Relationships: All employees, supervisors, middle managers, senior managers and all executives. Will participate in weekly staff meetings. External: Represents the company as the head of production planning and materials with customers, potential customer, suppliers and other contacts. Financial Responsibilities: Assist in preparing the manufacturing and materials budgets. Review production revenue plans. Insure that material plan supports the financial goals of the company. Qualifications/Education and/or Experience. 1. Demonstrated past experience of at least 10 years in a production planning and materials planning leadership position. 2. Must have current knowledge in the theories of MRP, CRP, ERP, JIT, CI and other manufacturing, production and materials processes. 3. Must be able to work with teams in making decisions. 4. Communications abilities are required. 5. Must be able to meet multiple, conflicting deadlines using available resources. 6. Certification through APICS. 7. Demonstrated computer skills. Thorough knowledge of ERP systems. Measures of Performance: Adherence to revenue plans. Accuracy of forecast and plan. MRP and Planning system accuracy. Customer Satisfaction. Team review. Physical Demands: May be required to spend hours standing and walking in the performance of their duties. Will be required to operate a personal computer for more than 1 hour at a time.
