Mar 25, 2020 | The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) announced the recent release of Selective Soldering 101, the latest in a series of online training courses on the fundamentals of electronics assembly. The course will be useful for equipment operators, technicians, and engineers new to the industry that want to understand more about the soldering process and who have a basic familiarity with the equipment.
Mar 22, 2020 | The SMTA is currently seeking student applications for two funds each with a deadline of April 24, 2020.
Mar 19, 2020 | The SMTA is pleased to announce the Best Papers from SMTA International 2019. As speakers at SMTA International, individuals make contributions to the industry by sharing their research and findings. For these exceptional achievements, a cash award and plaque are given to primary authors of all winning papers.
Mar 08, 2020 | The SMTA announced that Gregory Vance, Rockwell Automation, will serve as interim president through the current term ending in September 2020. The decision, made by the board of directors, comes after the resignation by current president, Jeff Kennedy, due to a conflict of interest outlined in the association bylaws which forbids two concurrent offices held by employees of the same company.
Feb 11, 2020 | SMTA held certification programs for SMT Processes in Chonburi, Thailand, on January 14-16, 2020 and in Penang, Malaysia, on January 21-23, 2020. Over 75% of the engineers successfully passed the exams, establishing competitive credentials as "Certified" by the SMTA in SMT Processes.
Jan 15, 2020 | The SMTA announced the call for participation for the International Conference for Electronics Hardware Enabling Technologies (ICEHET) held on June 2-4, 2020 in Markham, ON, Canada. The deadline to submit an abstract is January 24, 2020.
Jan 08, 2020 | The SMTA Capital Chapter is excited to host a Chapter Meeting on February 20th from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at PACE Worldwide in Elkridge, MD. Jason Fullerton, MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions, will be presenting “Advances in Lead-Free Solder Technologies for High Reliability Applications.”
Dec 11, 2019 | SMTA announced that the program is finalized for the 25th Annual Pan Pacific Microelectronics Symposium. The event will take place February 10-13, 2020 at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii. The Pan Pacific Microelectronics Symposium promotes international technical interchange and provides a premier forum for networking among microelectronics professionals and business leaders throughout the world.
Nov 27, 2019 | SMTA announced that abstracts are now accepted for several technical conferences taking place in 2020. All submissions must be strictly technical with focus on technology research and minimize marketing content. The following events are all currently soliciting abstracts:
