Smart Tweezers, from Canadian, Siborg Systems Inc., are the inventive combination of a powerful LCR-meter and a set of tweezers integrated into a pocket-sized device.

Designed specifically for working with electronics using Surface Mount Technology, Smart Tweezers are able to measure all types of passive and through hole devices. When a component is in contact with the tweezers' tips, Smart Tweezers automatically determines the type of component and measures for Inductance, Resistance, Capacitance and ESR values. All evaluations are done with the same accuracy found in conventional bench-type testers, a basic accuracy of 0.2%. The sharp gold-plated steel tweezer tips are able to gain full contact on the small components used in Surface Mount Technology, as small as 0201 size or about 0.3mm.

Smart Tweezers are the perfect solution to testing and troubleshooting electronics without using conventional bench-type testers. They provide the same high accuracy measurements with a basic accuracy of 0.2%, but don’t need the setting-up that bench-type testers do.

All measurement values are relayed nearly instantaneously on the embedded display screen in the device. The display shows the main impedance value, the ESR value, component type, and test frequency used.

Unlike other similar devices available that only offer Capacitance and Resistance measurements, Smart Tweezers offers Inductance measurements, and to a fraction of microhenry. When using the semi-automatic offset subtraction feature, Smart Tweezers measures as low as 1 picofarad and 1 milliohm while measuring Resistance and Capacitance. Being able to measure Inductance and to such a degree, Smart Tweezers have become an indispensable tool for use in radio electronics.
