Who Should Take This Course? TPN Customers • New to the TPN system or its implementation. • Responsible for implementing and/or supporting an existing Local Control Network (LCN) and Universal Control Network (UCN) using a Universal Station. • Requiring broad familiarization with much of the TPN’s capabilities. Prerequisite/Skill Requirements Prerequisite Course(s) • None. Desirable Skills and/or Experience • Knowledge of plant process. 

Course Topics You will learn how to… • Identify LCN and UCN hardware and their functions. • Navigate and manipulate operational and system displays including the Group, Detail, Alarm Summary, Console, System and UCN Status displays. • Manipulate LCN formatted files on the History Module through the Command Processor. • Create a Network Configuration File (NCF) to establish fundamental system definitions. • Initialize a History Module (HM) to establish it as the system file server and historical data collector. • Configure a UCN consisting of a NIM and an HPM. • Operate and build HPM regulatory control and regulatory process variable type points, including cascade control loops. • Create a configurable US keyboard button file. • Define parameters for history collection on the History Module. • Create a simple US graphic. • Define the Area Database to customize the operations environment including assigning units for operational control, building group displays, defining graphic invocation search paths and creating logs, journals and reports. • Optionally utilize system support and administration tools including Command Files, Exception Build files, the Documentation Tool, and Virtual Printers.
