The different rates of thermal expansion of the many materials that make up an electronic assembly combined with temperature fluctuations are the driver of the thermal fatigue failure of solder joints. A characteristic of the Sn-Bi system, which provided ...
Sn-based lead-free solders such as Sn-Ag-Cu, Sn-Cu, and Sn-Bi have been used extensively for a long time in the electronic packaging field. Recently, low-temperature Sn-Bi solder alloys attract much attention from industries for flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) applications. Low melting
The 2017 iNEMI Board and Assembly Roadmap forecasts that, due to economic, environmental and technical drivers, use of low temperature solder pastes will increase significantly and reach 10% of all solder paste used for board assembly by 2021.
Low temperature solder alloys are preferred for the assembly of temperature-sensitive components and substrates. The alloys in this category are required to reflow between 170 and 200oC soldering temperatures. Lower soldering temperatures result in lower thermal stresses and defects, such as ...
The electronics industry has widely adopted Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder alloys for lead-free reflow soldering applications and tin-copper based alloys for wave soldering applications. In automated soldering or rework operations, users may work with Sn-Ag-Cu or Sn-Cu based alloys. One of the challenges ...
The electronic industry is currently very interested in low temperature soldering processes such as using Sn/Bi alloy to improve process yield, eliminate the head-in-pillow effect, and enhance rework yield. However, Sn/Bi alloy is not strong enough to replace lead-free (SAC) and eutectic ...
Aerospace and military companies continue to exercise RoHS exemptions and to intensively research the long term attachment reliability of RoHS compliant solders. Their products require higher vibration, drop/shock performance, and ...
JUKI KE760 - software -- Hi, bought older yet good JUKI machine, but can not make it work, due to lack of explanation of PWB editing details in manuals, hopefully someone can help : - what is BOC mark - how is the "PWB centering pin" normally used? - What is "Hole reference" - are the coordinates relative to machine 0, or relative to the PCB origin? - is it possible to assemble large panel of multiple PCBs 500x250mm (which is beyond limits of the machine ) in 2 stages? (each PCB size is 10x250mm) etc, etc.....got alot questions, anybody with experience available for consulting services?(paid offcourse)

LED Misalignment -- Hello I experiencing major misalignments. I am using a Nichia LED package size@ y=.086,x=0.33mm, with recommended solder pad pattern x.086mm, y=.033. Note here is the kicker the PCB pattern does not meet this requirement. The PCB pad landing is based of a Cree LED with the dimension of x=0.65, y=1.20 larger than the Nichia led pads. The question is there anything I can do at this time to stop the Nichia Leds from shifting and drifting (misaligning)?
