Evaluation of Under-Stencil Cleaning Papers

Solder paste screen printing is known to be one of the most difficult processes to quality assure in Printed Board Assembly (PBA) manufacturing. An important process step in solder paste screen printing is the under stencil cleaning process and one of the key materials in this process is the cleaning paper1. This, often neglected, material affects the cleaning process and thereby also the print quality. It is therefore important to perform tests of different cleaning papers before one could be chosen. This article describes how cleaning papers can be tested and it also tells how big differences it can be between different materials.

Stencil Cleaning Handbook

Back in the "good old days," stencil cleaning was effortless and effective. CFC-based solvents were sprayed or wiped onto a stencil with apertures hundreds of times larger than modern-day components. The stencil cleaning process was not considered a value-added procedure; instead it was the cleaning of a production tool. How times have changed. The late-1980s ushered in the end of most of the popular solvents, and the machines that consumed them. Assemblers turned to alternative cleaning agents, including IPAs and other solvents.

Insignum 4000 Head-Crash -- Hello everybody, has anyone else encountered the malfunction of the head crashing against the right inner board side of it's cabin after hitting the stop button whilst an fiducial error happens? as far as i know from my collegues its not always in the same case but always related to pressing the stop function which is pretty bad imo. we use the Insignum 4000 series on all our production lines an it happened more or less often on all of them.

Alternatives to CircuitCam -- We currently use Aegis CircuitCam for our Production work instructions, and machine programs. I am looking for an alternative, as CC is no longer supported. We receive Gerbers (sometimes CAD files) and BOM from our customers. That is all that I can reliably count on getting. Some customers send more. We digitize the component locations from the gerbers, and import the BOM. From that I assign parts to different process steps (ie. Surface Mount, Selective Solder, COnformal coating) . We also have machine programming modules built in so that I can generate a SMT or TH or VCD program. I don't need inventory tracking or purchasing capabilities.
