Solder paste for high voltage applications -- Hi there, I've been task to research anything I can find about a legend which is living on in the company ours bought out - namely, they use leaded solder paste for high voltage PCB assemblies. The reason behind this action is apparently that unleaded solder grows "whiskers" in the application they use it for. The field of use is power amplifiers, I know nothing more. Did anyone hear about anything similar and can shine a light? Also, what solder paste do you use for your high voltage applications? We are a ROHS company so should we move assemblies over to our site, we are not allowed to use leaded solder, and I am wondering what would be the most appropriate solder paste to use, if there is any.
