█ Printed Circuit Board Assembly & PCB Design Forum

Placing through-hole with smd machine -- I want to place a connector near the edge of a PCB using a Panasonic Pick and Place machine. One-third of the connector (the part with the smd pads) sits on the PCB, while the remaining portion hangs off the edge. When the connector isn't seated properly, the overhanging section's weight causes it to tilt downwards. The challenging part is that there's a hole in the PCB, and the connector has a pin underneath designed to fit into this hole, acting like a through-hole pin to keep the connector aligned and prevent it from shifting sideways. Is it possible to assemble this kind of component with a Pick and Place machine? Has anyone worked on a similar project before?
