Turned out to be just a axial 2A fuse on the MVME162-220 CPU card. Cheap repair in the end.

if you want to get some sort of a joint even to allow AOI to inspect you can overprint on on the outer lead by 3 thou or so. This will give you a joint that can be seen from the side for inspection purposes.

Yes, but no guarantee of solderability. This just puts more paste on the pads. From my experience, unsoldered QFN parts are not due to lack of solder, but reflow.

Interested in using a Board Loader or Jedec Tray feeder to position parts for Robotic assembly. Looking for a SMT equip surplus rep in Northern California.

Hey Reese what is your Mis rate? Do you have any boards that are passed that have actual defects?
Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 16 13:24:04 EDT 2012 | rway
That's hard to quantify. I deal with escapes when they occur, but I haven't kept track of that data. It doesn't happen to often. But when it does, I take it back to the AOI to analyze why it escaped, and change the algorithm to catch it, if I can.

The way you phrased the question implies that your rework uses OA. Why not do low res rework?
Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 02 15:31:20 EDT 2012 | jdumont
Hi Dave, we certainly do use low res. Still not comfortable with leaving anything behind however...Figured some brain would have a product for this. If not, this brain will have to create one and sell to other brains on this forum. :)

We have the same machine running the same alloy and have not seen this problem, but we're not running it nearly as much as you do. Have you asked Pillarhouse what could be happening? Try sending photos to them. They have been helpful in the past.
