Reflow soldering of 208-RQFP-0.5mm

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 31 09:52:23 EST 2005 | slthomas

The only problems I've ever had with 208's shifting out of alignment was with a board with too much HASL thickness. The lands had a convex profile and the parts kept slipping downslope. We put down a glue dot and ranted at our board supplier. Both

Matte Tin finish on sockets

Electronics Forum | Tue May 16 16:36:18 EDT 2006 | dougm

Has anyone had issues with chips not making a reliable connection in sockets with a matte tin finish (RoHS compatible)? We have had issues with these types of sockets. I sent some to the manufacturer, and was told there weren't any problems. We re

and you think youve got it hard

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 05 11:44:04 EDT 2006 | Rob

We had one mechanical engineer from a certain customer telling us we had to crop components leads so they didn't protrude through the board, as they could then come in contact with the case as the board was flush. Had I have known then what I know

support pins for double sided boards

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 05 09:54:33 EDT 2006 | slthomas

We had the same problem with our E5. I had the shop make us a template for each two-sided board out of some 1/16" acrylic. The template had cutouts in it to drop the pins through where the bottom side parts weren't. Seemed to work fairly well, no com

Hopefully this will help you. I happen to have a few similar problems with PN# MC33982BPNA. I had the stencil made at 6mil thick and had a step-down for 5mil in the problem areas. That seems to take care of the problem we had at the time. ALSO FORGOT

BTU TRS-14

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 02 10:04:24 EDT 2008 | cyber_wolf

Good luck with that one. We just had a hard drive crash in one of our TRS ovens. We had to upgrade to wincon software which = 1500.00 and then we had to pay a 450.00 service fee so they would talk to us. BTW...the $450.00 service fee only gets you 1

Quick Turn Around for an EMS Provider - Brainstorming

I totally agree with Wolfman. I recently had the SMA responsibility for a new product from a new customer. The PCB had 600+ mounting positions. It took me almost two days insering them into the part library because an unusual number of the positions

Solder Balls-No Clean Paste

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 17 16:07:23 EDT 2010 | scottp

Are you controlling humidity in your plant? I'm not familiar with that particular paste, but some pastes are sensitive to a humid environment. We also had one paste supplier send us a batch that had excessive solder balls if the boards were printed
