Electronics Forum | Tue May 02 14:27:43 EDT 2006 | bhall

In the past we have used immersion tin as an alternative for HASL. Our biggest problem was shelf life. The tin oxidized very rapidly. We switched to immersion gold and have had great success.

When we have warpage issues we use Titanium Panel Stiffeners even though the stiffeners are mainly used for Wave we find little issue for reflow. Mind you the boards have to be large enough.

Pad dissolution on Thick PCB's

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 27 04:21:15 EDT 2006 | slaine

you can either use an alloy that has a higher copper content to reduce dissolution or the better option is to have a Nickel plating barrier. both have there problems. Bu remember the dissolution of copper by tin carries on at a slower rate a ambiant
