Electronics Forum | Tue May 13 09:58:50 EDT 2008 | rgduval

Thanks, Dave, To the 183 TAL...I was just referencing a previous post I found in the archives. We checked the profile on the board this morning, absed on the temp info that AIM recommended, and found that we're above liquidous for nearly 2 minutes!

SMT Process Engineering Consulting Rates

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 02 15:38:20 EDT 2008 | wavemasterlarry

I have a pretty good system for my counsultency rates of charge. It is a multi-tire system so to speak.I took a seminar on value stream mapping which is how come I know this stuff.I catgorize my consulting fees by area of expertise of course. Exampl

Curing Conformal Coating

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 05 18:11:53 EDT 2008 | jlawson

Also coating costs depends on solids content vs final dry film thickness. Some newer UV coatings are 100% solids, so what you put down you get on the PCB after cure, use no solvents at all. So a cost to look at are qty of PCB per litre of material. T

CCGA solderability criteria

Electronics Forum | Sat Jun 21 23:15:07 EDT 2008 | mika

Also keep in mind that the CCGA column length tolerance is at minimum +/- 0.13mm from most part manufactures and they don't collapse in the same way as a BGA, therefore the paste height deposit could be critical in some rare circumstances. Board warp

Current Acceptable HMP Soldering Methods: 1. Wave / Selective Solder: Some Brands require upgrades to heating elements and Pot materials 2. Laser: Works well with PTH and medium/large passive SMT. Damage to PCB masking can occur when try

OT: Wavesolder Process Engineer Needed

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 02 16:13:19 EDT 2008 | ck_the_flip

Wow, I should apply! As others state, wave solder engineers are a dying breed - believe me, I've been doing it for over 15 years. Often times, a very THANKLESS job. People who've never "dealt" with wave think that it's "easy"...c'mon a board trave

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 10 15:38:36 EDT 2008 | ck_the_flip

Amen to that Patrick. I am from a traditional Engineering background myself - they never taught wave solder in school. My curriculum was mostly theory and labs. When I got out, I read all the soldering books available at the time and also watched s

problem in solderability

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 03 17:43:19 EDT 2008 | vladig

No, I don't work for Suntech (me company name is different but close, it much have been misspelled:-)) and the company isn't exactly a trace lab, However, that wasn't the point why I jumped in. Defining a problem as solderability is too generic.

NiPdAu Soldering Problems?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 19 21:31:15 EDT 2008 | trynders

Thanks for the response guys! The parts are being sent to a local lab as we speak. I'll let you know the results when I get them. I am not sure the purpose of the copper band, but the black around the band is just shadowing from how I took the pi

Silver Immersion Problem

Hello all, Just had a problem where the solder paste does not want to stick to the pad, thru the stencil. We have run this board for years with no problem, and this new lot of boards is giving us problems. I know it's a board problem because they
