Try spraying flux on top of the loaded PWB when you put it on the conveyor. The tackiness of the flux does a pretty fair job of keeping the axial leaded parts down to the board. This takes more cleaning, but it has worked wonders for me on assemblies

I have heard the reason it has not caught on is because the SSD machine used i nthe process is very expensive, and there is only a few in the U.S. The company i work for has our own SSD Machine. We SSD 75% of our boards we build, and found it is much

Celldude, What kind of parts do you use for SSD? More specifically does your company use 0402, 0201, BGA's, etc? Also are the results of using SSD better than the normal process of applying soder paste? Also if anyone else uses SSD, what are your ex

Being a surface mount department manager for well over 6 years I have seen this countless times. While we run mostly water soluble I havent seen any negative issues while running boards through the oven twice. Sometimes we even spray an additional am

We see latches from some suppliers that just are not solderable. Usually the nickel plate on the latch is poor, allowing the nickel to corrode, and requiring a more active flux [if you're lucky]. But lots of times, you end-up with partial wetting,

Besides the processing tests (different print speeds, print delay times, etc.) one test we've had to use is humidity exposure. Solderballing due to high outside humidity is a problem in our plant. So we expose paste to 85% humidity for various time

If there has general standard to guide which type of component can not be cleaned ? No-clean flux be used in solder process ,and the PCBA we build be subject to the filed of high frequence (13.56MHz). Is it very critical if the coating that adhered

In addition to type of paste, it is also dependant on the enviroment conditions. When you say open jar are you implying that the jar is left open all day and then at the end of shift it is closed back up? Jars should only bve open for about 30 secs

Wow, it's amazing what you can achieve with smoke & mirrors! Only joking. Does the original via hole covering solder get put on at the PCB fabrication plant, or by the customer? & Does the entire board get reflowed or do you have a process where ho

On the dendritic growth over the top of the capacitor: We agree that your capacitor supplier probably did not do a very good job of cleaning process residues from their device. On the metallic fragments under the capacitor: This sounds like solder
