Recently on one product, I found a white residue on the solder joints only that is more of a gray in color. Our lab told us it was a tin oxide with an unknown organic. This is with a lead free OA paste and it only shows after wash. Has anyone seen

Walter: The things I'd look at first are: * Temperature of the water wash. I expect the solution to be in the 140-150*F range [Check with your flux supplier for recommended temperatures] * Temperature of the boards when entering the cleaning process.

So that is common when the temp on the wash is high? The temp was adjusted for a flux that required a higher temp. How much of an issue is this tin oxide?

Your autoexec.bat and config.sys probably have problems. There is a line for the apwrk that needs to be in autoexec.bat. go to: www.precision-repairs.com and e-mail me....much easier that way

Does anyone have a Maintenance tracking program they'd be willing to share? Don't need anything fancy, my company is having a system set up, this could be awhile, so was looking for something in the interim. Thanks

Does anyone have a printable ruler for measuring smd/smt tape and reel components? I currently have one that measures 2 pitch and 4 pitch but it is small and only measures up to 75 parts at a time. I would like one to also include 8 pitch.

"So why is the number of wraps = (Outside diameter - inside diameter) / twice the the thickness of the tape" 2*thickness because we are using diameter

To give a better idea of how to calculate the amount of parts on a reel, one might like to survey the attached diagram it is very simple, the extra parts per layer follow a linear fashion.
