The focus of Bixenman's presentation was on change and meeting today's cleaning challenges. He discussed the need for cleaning due to the implementation of miniaturization and utilization of lead-free technology. Bixenman also discussed process integration, and the importance of selecting the proper chemistry to match process needs and equipment. The discussion was well attended with more than 40 members in attendance, and well received. The audience discussion lasted for an hour, with many thought-provoking questions asked and answered.
�A few years back, cleaning was considered a nuisance issue, due to the success of no-clean solder materials. With today's leading-edge circuit designs, reduced spacing between conductors increases cleaning relevance. Cleaning materials and cleaning machine companies are working together to design processes that meet that challenge,� said Bixenman.
