Fox's Newest Cost Effective High Stability Oscillators

Sep 28, 2004

Fox Electronics, America's leading supplier of frequency control products, has expanded its line of oven controlled crystal oscillators (OCXO) with the addition of its newest precision oscillators utilizing SC-cut resonators. The new FTE oscillators, which offer exceptionally high frequency stability, are available with HCMOS output for telecom and switching applications (AH series) or with sine wave output for wireless, satellite communications, and navigation applications (AS series). Both series are available in the popular Euro Package (nominally 1.0" W x 1.42" L with various heights available.

The new FTE AH and AS series oscillators save users money by providing a lower phase noise, typically 6 dB better than competing oscillators, as well as better g sensitivity, due to the SC-cut resonators, all at a lower cost than competitive models. In addition, the improved long and short term stability of the new FTE OCXOs, ±0.5 PPB per day and ±50 PPB per year respectively, offer increased performance and better aging characteristics.

Frequency range of all models in the new AH and AS series is 5 to 50 MHz, and supply voltage is +5 VDC. Depending on the model, frequency stability is ±7 PPB; ±10 PPB, and ±15 PPB; and operating temperatures are available as wide as -40°C to 75°C (-40°F to 167°F). Typical offset phase noise for a 10 MHz unit is -120 dBc for 10 Hz; -140 dBc for 100 HZ; -155 dBc for 1 kHz; and -158 dBc for 10 kHz.

Pricing for a 10MHz FTE 501-AH Series OCXO with ± 7PPB stability is $94.23 in quantities of 1K. Delivery is 10-12 weeks ARO for sample quantities.
